This beautiful bird cage belonged to Madame du Barry and was used for her pet parrot. The parrot was trained to exclaim: "La voilà la belle comtesse!" (Here comes the beautiful lady) every time she appeared. It followed Madame du Barry when she left Versailles after Louis XV's death.
