Louis XV's Bedroom

Louis XV was far more reserved than his predecessor and wanted a smaller and less majestic bedroom. Therefor he had this room built in 1738 - the room was far easier to heat due to its smaller size. Louis XV would die there on May 10 1774.

The woodwork of the room is by Jacques Verbeckt. The recess screen of the room is decorated with palm trees and the royal arms. When Louis XVI took over the throne he had very few changes done to the château. The only thing he changed about this room was the addition of a small dressing chamber and the ordering of new furniture. This new furniture includes the gilt brocade lamps.
